Recently I took a support call from a client who was having trouble editing their Vault project file inside of Inventor. They had checked out the project file, closed all open Inventor files, even closed and relaunched Inventor, to no avail… Sometimes in order to modify an uncooperative project file, believe it or not, one has to actually do so outside of Inventor through Windows. Here are the steps to successfully edit an Inventor project with the Project Editor through Windows.
- Check the project file out of Vault.
- Navigate to the project file through Windows, right click on the file and choose the Edit option.
- Make whatever modifications required in the Editor and then Save the changes.
So that’s it, short and sweet. Just check the project file back in and you’re good to go! This is a great tool for editing pesky project files that refuse to be edited within Inventor itself. Please let me know if you have any questions or leave a comment below. Hope this helps, happy blogging and have a most blessed night!
